National headlines typically tout what is happening in the national housing market where average home prices have dropped 15.4% from last year’s highs. However, looking at national news to find out what is happening in Denver is like looking at national weather before you get dressed, largely irrelevant.
Despite all of the national turmoil, for the third month in a row Denver has shown increased housing value. According to the S&P/Case-Shiller index prices are up 1.5% over last year. I also read a recent article in the DBJ that stated that there is actually a shortage of homes for sale in the $300-500K price point.
