A recent episode of My First Place on HGTV featured Karl and Kitty in search of a house in Denver. They found a house with a few structural issues and needed the help of a structural engineer. I was fortunate to help them and be included on the TV show. Being a part of the show was exciting and something very new for me.
I helped Karl and Kitty first understand what the issues are, why it happened and how it should be fixed prior to purchasing the house. They decided to move forward with the purchase and I was happy to help them with the design of the repair and with a few remodel questions and engineering letters.
The episode is called “Costly Fixer Upper Negotiations” (episode #HMFP-1609H). Please check out HGTV on Tuesday and Thursday nights for My First Place. They film many of the episodes in Denver, making it great to watch. You can also visit HGTV’s website for My First Place to watch many episodes online. It doesn’t look like they have the episode I was on yet.
If you are a HGTV fan, check out Infinity Home Collection and their participation with Green Home 2011. I worked with Infinity Home Collection while at a previous office to design many homes with them, including the homes in Stapleton where the Green Home is being built.
