Anthony Ries – Architect

My path in architecture has taken a varied, somewhat circuitous path. I have been involved with projects that vary widely from large public school projects to small home additions, from multi-story office buildings to historic preservation. The common thread on all building types is aesthetics, usability and place. A project should be enjoyable to inhabit both aesthetically and functionally.

Involvement in our community and profession is an important aspect of professional practice. With that in mind I have a voice in the American Institute of Architects where I am a member of the Government Affairs Committee and Committee on the Environment.

I am a licensed architect who gained my education through hard work in the profession initially which I then reinforced and expanded upon through the University of Colorado. I hold a Bachelor of Environmental Design, a Masters of Architecture and a Masters of Business Administration.

Combining architecture with the future in mind, I am a LEED accredited professional with an emphasis on Building Design and Construction. On the functional side of architecture I believe that making the most of materials and creating healthy environments are of paramount importance.

Taking time with family and friends are important to balanced life. Somehow architecture always sneaks into the mix. My children and I enjoy building with various types of blocks, construction paper and doing other creative endeavors. We also play a wide variety of rainy day games and spend time being active outside during all seasons. I have been an avid skateboarder since childhood and still find time to get out on warm nights to wax a few curbs.
