Mark Stines, P.E.

Mark Stines is a Colorado-licensed Professional Engineer with more than 15 years of experience in residential and commercial engineering. His background includes structural design, construction observation, existing-building assessments, forensic evaluation, repair design, special inspections, and field engineering throughout Colorado.

Much of Mark’s work focuses on evaluating structures where the answer is not immediately apparent from the original drawings. He regularly investigates foundation movement, framing concerns, construction deficiencies, structural damage, and modifications to existing buildings. His experience includes residential warranty evaluations, remodels and additions, vehicle-impact damage, foundation and framing repairs, lateral-force-resisting systems, and construction-related structural issues.

Mark approaches these projects by combining traditional structural analysis with extensive field experience. Rather than simply identifying whether a condition differs from the drawings or current code requirements, he works to understand how the structure was built, how it is behaving, and whether the observed condition presents an actual structural concern. When repairs are necessary, his goal is to develop practical solutions that minimize unnecessary demolition while maintaining the required structural performance.

His work frequently places him between owners, contractors, architects, building officials, and other engineers, helping translate structural requirements into solutions that can realistically be implemented in the field. This combination of engineering analysis, construction knowledge, and direct field experience allows Mark to efficiently evaluate unusual conditions and provide clear, practical recommendations for moving projects forward.
