ADUs in Colorado
ADUs in Colorado are set to increase significantly. The state aims to provide more affordable housing through this initiative. House Bill 24-1152, approved on May 13, 2024, plays a crucial role. It takes effect on June 30, 2025. The bill encourages local governments to approve ADUs. An $8 million program through CHFA supports this effort.
Local governments can become “accessory dwelling unit supportive jurisdictions.” They can do this by enacting laws that support ADU construction. These ADUs are defined as factory-built residential structures in Section 24-32-3302 (10).
