Habitat for Humanity and the City of Rifle Collaborate on Modular Production Facility
Habitat for Humanity Roaring Fork Valley has joined forces with the City of Rifle to create a state-of-the-art Modular Production Facility. The 63,000-square-foot Modular Production and Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility will be located at 2515 Centennial Parkway on U.S. Highway 6. With convenient access to Highway 24, transporting completed modules will be efficient and seamless.
A Design Focused on Efficiency and Safety
EVstudio designers prioritized efficiency and flexibility when planning the facility. Measuring 210 by 300 feet, the building will host 14 specialized stations for constructing various components, such as floors, walls, and roofs. These stations can adapt to different module sizes and designs, ensuring the facility meets diverse client needs.
While efficient production is essential, employee safety remains the top priority. The climate-controlled environment provides a safer and more comfortable workspace compared to traditional outdoor construction sites.
Form Meets Function
Although the facility emphasizes functionality, its design includes thoughtful architectural details to enhance visual appeal. The modern industrial entry creates a welcoming atmosphere for employees and visitors. Dark gray accents over the east and west overhead doors break up the façade, avoiding monotony. Additionally, blue and light gray accent metal panels add visual interest from surrounding roads. Metal awnings above doors and windows protect against the elements and maintain clean, functional entryways.
Addressing Workforce Challenges
The construction workforce faces growing challenges, with retirements outpacing new workers joining the field. Colorado’s increasing housing demand intensifies the need for skilled labor. The Modular Production and Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility aims to tackle these issues by training and certifying the local workforce.
Habitat for Humanity has partnered with Colorado River BOCES and Colorado Mountain College (CMC) to offer hands-on training and certifications. The facility’s factory floor and classroom spaces will accommodate up to 100 high school and post-graduate students annually. Students will gain experience with advanced construction techniques and equipment, with a strong focus on net-zero, all-electric, and sustainable practices to prepare for future industry demands.
By combining education, innovation, and efficiency, this facility promises to strengthen Colorado’s construction workforce and support sustainable building solutions for years to come. EVstudio is thrilled to be the design team for such an important project.
