Event Overview and Key Details
The 2026 NAIOP Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge Competition Day will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at The Brighton in Denver. This 24th annual event, presented by Land Title Guarantee Company, features MBA students from the University of Colorado and the University of Denver.
During the competition, student teams will present development proposals for Ladera, a 240-acre master-planned community in Timnath, Colorado. Specifically, this year’s challenge focuses on a 14.55-acre waterfront parcel overlooking a planned 30-acre reservoir.
The site, currently an aging asphalt plant and gravel pit, offers a unique redevelopment opportunity. Students must design a vibrant, mixed-use waterfront district that supports community engagement and long-term growth.
The event will draw an audience of more than 700 real estate professionals. In addition, it connects students with industry leaders to evaluate real-world development opportunities.
Connell LLC is leading the site’s transformation, with a vision to create a dynamic space where people can live, work, and gather.
