Rob Plekenpol – Structural Engineer for the EVolution Studio
With over a decade of experience in structural engineering, Rob brings a unique blend of European expertise and American innovation. He is in the EVolution Studio, which specializes in Design for Offsite Construction. Since joining in July 2023, Rob has been designing and engineering volumetric modular buildings. From single-family homes and duplexes to multifamily structures with double-sided corridors and 4-plex studio apartments. On the panelized side, Rob works on ADUs and custom mountain homes, ensuring every project stands on a rock-solid foundation—literally.
Rob is passionate about practical, efficient design solutions. Whether it’s reworking Simpson hangers to maintain passive house certification, or selecting the right anchors to keep projects on track. With extensive experience in industrial, commercial, and residential design—plus a background in seismic and foundation rehabilitation—he’s always ready to tackle complex engineering challenges.
Originally from the Netherlands, Rob now calls Colorado home, where you’ll find him carving powder-loaded groomers or weaving through tree runs in the winter. If I-70 is a parking lot, he’s probably earning his turns in the backcountry. Summers are for sweet multi-day hikes or a “quick” run on the mountain bike in the foothills—because there’s always time for one more trail.
Check out his blogs for insights into modular vs. stick-built foundations, innovative anchoring solutions, and more!
