The Building Code Requires Street Numbers on Buildings

The International Building Code requires that you provide numbers or addresses on all new buildings. The numbers or addresses are required to be positioned where they are plainly visible and legible from the front of the property.

Having the address clearly marked is easy to overlook but it is generally a requirement that will be enforced before you can achieve your certificate of occupancy. It is essential to have this information in place for the fire department and it is a life safety element of the building code.
