Most people think about hiring an architect to help them put up a building, but we are also hired to design how to take a building down. This is especially true when the demolition requires careful detailing.
The photograph is from the recent demolition of Boettcher East at the University of Denver. We designed the separation from the adjacent buildings and our structural engineering group detailed important connections and members that had to be disconnected. We have also designed the repairs and replacement of members that will begin after the demolition of the wing is complete.
