A Collaboration of Vision and Precision
EVstudio partnered with Fire Lookout Capital to bring this project to life. The development is located near the Big Sky Golf Course, just across from the bustling town center. With mountain views and walkable access to local amenities, Yellowtail offers the perfect balance between seclusion and convenience.
The modular units were manufactured by Irontown Modular in Spanish Fork, Utah, a leader in high-end modular construction. General contracting was led by Langlas and Associates, a seasoned firm known for complex modular projects in the region.
Designed to Blend In—By Standing Out
One of the project’s most unique features is its invisible modularity. Although built using modular methods, the Yellowtail Residences are designed not to look modular at all. The goal was to combine the efficiency of modular construction with a permanent, aged appearance. The architecture subtly references Montana’s mountain heritage while incorporating sleek, contemporary design elements.
Each duplex building includes two luxury residences, totaling six buildings in the first phase. Each unit boasts around 3,500 square feet of finished interior space, plus a site-built two-car garage and expansive exterior patios. That space includes five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, making these homes ideal for large families or vacation retreats.
Built Smart, Built to Last
The Yellowtail team optimized the project to maximize factory scope. This not only speeds up construction but also ensures consistent quality. The modules include wide-open interior spans, dormers, and integrated roof framing, showcasing what’s possible in high-end modular architecture.
Many interior finishes were completed directly in the factory. These include:

Phased Development with an Eye on the Future
Construction for the first phase began in Spring 2023. Module setting occurred in Fall 2024, and the first homes will be available for purchase in late Summer 2025. Future development phases are expected to begin in Fall 2028, with final occupancy targeted for Summer 2029.
This phased approach allows EVstudio and its partners to adjust based on demand and continue refining their modular strategy for high-altitude, high-style living.
