Give Your Architect Too Much Information

When I meet with new clients about their projects, about half the time they apologize because they feel they are giving me too much information. I tell them “don’t apologize, I’d rather have way too much information than not enough information”.

So, if in doubt, pile on the information that you’ve collected. Bring your notebook, email me your collected web images and tell me the entire story. Then, its my job to work through that information with you to prioritize and clarify what you are really looking for. Finally, I’ll put together a solution with all of the information available and reach something that is a great solution. Its much easier to discuss the design when I can refer back to the specific requests that were made and which informed the design. Its significantly harder to design based on guesses and the success of the design is far more subjective.
