This Custom Home in Colorado Springs Was Built for the View

Contemporary Mountain Living Above Colorado Springs

Set high in the Forest Oaks subdivision of Colorado Springs, this custom home looks out over the Front Range and the Garden of the Gods. City lights sparkle below after dark. From the first sketch, we aimed to connect the home to its landscape rather than compete with it. We worked closely with the client on every detail of their needs, lifestyle, and wish list. The result is a bright, sophisticated retreat that blends modern craftsmanship with everyday family warmth.

Designed Around the Landscape

The dramatic hillside setting shaped every architectural decision. Floor-to-ceiling glass draws the outdoors in and fills the interior with natural light throughout the day, so the mood shifts with the seasons.

A stone-columned entrance greets guests and sets the tone for scale and craftsmanship before they even step inside. A floating staircase serves as the home’s visual centerpiece, adding elegance without blocking sightlines to the view beyond.

Our design team and the contractor worked side by side to keep every space open, comfortable, and timeless. Warm finishes soften the home’s contemporary edges, so each room still feels inviting.

Spaces Created for Everyday Enjoyment

This home offers three bedrooms, a private office, and a dedicated craft room, each built to support both work and rest. The main level features an open floor plan that keeps the living spaces connected.

The main level floor has an open layout.

The walk-out lower level anchors the home’s entertaining side. A custom bar sets the stage for gatherings, celebrations, and game nights. Large windows fill every corner with daylight, so the space never feels like a typical basement.

Outdoor living extends the experience further. A spacious deck is the spot for sunrise coffee or an evening watching the mountains. Nearby, a fire pit gives family and friends a place to gather under the Colorado sky.

A sunroom off the garage adds one more place to unwind, whether reviewing plans, catching up with a friend, or just taking in the scenery. The garage itself includes a dog-wash station, so cleanup after outdoor adventures stays easy.

Turning Challenges into Opportunities

Building on steep terrain took careful planning. Our team incorporated extensive retaining wall systems to support the site without sacrificing its natural beauty. A handful of key engineering adjustments addressed every other challenge along the way.

The design also eliminates traditional window wells. That choice improves the home’s exterior look and lets the lower-level rooms feel brighter and more connected to the landscape outside.

A Presence That Continues After Sunset

Long, extended soffits give the home one of its most distinctive architectural features. Their clean horizontal lines reinforce the home’s contemporary mountain character and tie the structure together visually.

Integrated lighting inside the soffits highlights these details after dark. The result is a warm glow across the exterior. Combined with the city lights below and the mountain backdrop beyond, it keeps the home’s presence strong day and night.
