I went to Fort Carson today to work with the various groups on post to determine what they could implement from LEED ND. The event was cosponsored by USGBC Southern Colorado, AIA South Chapter and CNU Colorado.
It was very interesting to see how the military structure and hierarchy would interface with the principals of New Urbanism. They are building a great number of new buildings and there are definitely some areas where we LEED ND can inform the process.
As it turns out they are already doing many environmentaly progressive things with their energy, water and trash. They even have sustainability planners on staff.
Our Texas office has worked on several projects on Fort Hood and we’re very interested in continuing our relationship with the Army.
