How AI Is Working With Us—Not Working for Us at EVstudio

That philosophy was the focus of a recent EVU (EV University) session hosted at EVstudio. EVU is an ongoing internal education program that helps our staff stay current with evolving technology, industry trends, and professional best practices. Learning How to Use AI Responsibly
The session was led by Todd Silvernail, EVstudio’s IT and Standards Manager. Todd has worked in the architecture and engineering industry since 2006, beginning his career as an architectural drafter and designer. Over time, he transitioned into design technology, where he now manages EVstudio’s software platforms, in-house IT support, and the development of internal standards.
Drawing from both technical expertise and industry experience, Todd shared practical ways AI can improve daily workflows without replacing professional judgment.
AI Supports Better Project Delivery
Throughout the discussion, Todd demonstrated how AI can help architects and engineers complete routine tasks more efficiently. Whether organizing information, assisting with documentation, or accelerating research, AI can reduce time spent on repetitive work.
That efficiency allows project teams to focus on what matters most: solving design challenges, collaborating with clients, and making informed engineering and architectural decisions. Every project still depends on human experience, creativity, and accountability.
Finding the Right Balance
Todd’s key message was simple: AI should work with us, not for us. As he explained, it’s important to “find balance between using AI and just work yourselves. AI is a great tool, but not a replacement.”
That perspective reflects EVstudio’s approach to innovation. We embrace technology that helps our teams work smarter while recognizing that professional expertise remains essential. AI can generate ideas and streamline workflows, but architects and engineers must evaluate every decision through experience, critical thinking, and technical knowledge.
