EVstudio Celebrates the Crown Pointe Academy Ribbon Cutting
Last Friday, August 14, EVstudio joined Crown Pointe Academy for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event marked the completion of the charter school’s new Primary Grades facility. After years of close collaboration, the celebration felt less like a project wrap-up and more like a reunion.

A New Home for Primary Grades
Crown Pointe Academy is a Colorado public charter school. EVstudio designed a 26,000-square-foot facility for its Primary Grades program, backed by a $16 million budget. The new building includes 11 classrooms, a warming kitchen, a gymnatorium, playgrounds, and supporting spaces.
Throughout the project, the EVstudio team worked closely with school leadership. Together, they evaluated program needs and optimized classroom layouts. They also addressed site constraints like traffic flow and circulation. The design incorporates shared, multi-use spaces, including a cafetorium and a learning hub library. So when late-stage budget constraints emerged, the team refined a structural solution that balanced wood and steel systems. That flexibility kept the project on track without sacrificing quality. Meanwhile, MEP coordination focused on lighting, acoustics, and system performance, supporting a healthy, high-functioning learning environment for students.

In Their Own Words
Nothing says more about a project than how the client feels about the team behind it. Ahead of the ribbon cutting, Keith Ouweneel, Executive Director of Crown Pointe Academy, shared this reflection on the partnership:
“Working with EVstudio has been a wonderful experience. Brian, Jeff, and the team have been great partners on our new school campus. They were essential in making this project become reality. If we are ever in need of architectural or design services again, we’ll call EVstudio first.”
That’s the kind of feedback that sticks with a design team, and it says a lot about how this project came together.
A True Team Effort
This project relied on integrated civil, architectural, structural, and MEP design working in lockstep. Civil Engineering Director Brian Welch led that coordination alongside Jeff Scott, Katelyn Wager, and Jon Anderson. Their combined effort delivered a facility built for Crown Pointe’s youngest students to actually learn and grow.
