Celebrating 20 Years of EVstudio: A Legacy of Growth, Innovation, and Collaboration

This week marks a major milestone for EVstudio. The firm is celebrating 20 years in business, and the energy across the company reflects that achievement. To honor the occasion, the team embraced spirit week with a celebratory lunch and time together. In addition, Dean Dalvit, AIA, P.E., presented a detailed overview of the company’s history. His presentation reminded everyone how far the firm has come and where it is headed next.

As EVstudio looks forward, it also reflects on the journey that shaped its identity.

The Beginning: A Vision Takes Root

The EVstudio story begins during a time of global change. In the early 2000s, the architecture and engineering world faced rapid technological and economic shifts. In 2005, Dean Dalvit founded Eagle View Architecture. This decision marked the first step toward what would become EVstudio. Soon after, Dean partnered with Sean O’Hara, AIA to grow the business and expand its reach.

In 2006, EVstudio officially formed as an integrated architecture and engineering firm. The company established its headquarters in downtown Evergreen, Colorado. From the start, the firm delivered a wide range of projects. These included custom homes, commercial tenant finishes, and office buildings.

Importantly, the team embraced innovation early. For example, EVstudio contributed to one of the first LEED-certified buildings west of the Front Range. To learn more about sustainable design, visit https://www.usgbc.org/leed.

Adapting Through Change: 2007–2011

As EVstudio grew, the world changed rapidly. The introduction of the iPhone transformed communication and technology. At the same time, the Great Recession created serious challenges for the design and construction industries.

However, EVstudio responded with resilience. The firm expanded operations and opened a Denver office. EVstudio also hired its first employees, including Jim Houlette as Director, and formalized its Structural Engineering Department.

During this period, the company completed a variety of notable projects. These ranged from university facilities to commercial renovations and residential developments

Additionally, EVstudio built key relationships with partner firms. These collaborations strengthened its multidisciplinary approach.

Building a Strong Foundation: 2012-2025

Next, EVstudio focused on internal growth and structure. The firm developed its original “EValues,” which continue to guide its culture today. These values emphasize responsibility, excellence, leadership, and evolution.

At the same time, EVstudio invested in its future. It purchased office space and created new departments, including planning and civil engineering.

The company also worked toward a fully integrated business model. This approach brought more services in-house and improved efficiency.

By 2014, EVstudio earned recognition as one of the top architecture firms in Colorado.

Growth and Momentum: 2016–2019

Between 2016 and 2019, EVstudio experienced significant growth. The firm expanded its team, refined leadership structures, and improved operations. During this time, EVstudio broke into the ENR Regional Top 60 firms. This milestone demonstrated its rising influence in the industry. The company also invested in employee development. Programs like “Path to Principal” provided clear growth opportunities. By 2018, EVstudio reached 50 employees!

Meanwhile, the firm strengthened its internal systems. It launched IT and standards programs and improved financial management processes. These improvements positioned EVstudio for long-term success.

Resilience and Innovation: 2020 and Beyond

In 2020, the global pandemic tested the entire industry. Despite uncertainty, EVstudio remained active and focused. The firm expanded its marketing efforts and explored new opportunities. One key initiative included offsite and modular construction. This focus aligned with broader industry trends. Modular construction continues to reshape how buildings are delivered.

The neUdesign Merger: Strengthening Regional Reach

In 2021, EVstudio achieved one of its most important milestones. The firm merged with neUdesign, significantly expanding its capabilities.

Founded in 2008 by Jim Escobar, neUdesign initially focused on custom homes and tenant improvements. Over time, the firm grew into commercial and multifamily design.

Notably, neUdesign became a leader in modular construction. This expertise complemented EVstudio’s innovation goals.

Today, neUdesign operates as the EVstudio Idaho office. This team brings strong regional knowledge and technical skills. It also continues delivering standout projects across the Treasure Valley.

The merger also pushed EVstudio past 100 employees and strengthened its studio-based organization model.

Continued Evolution: 2022–2025

Following the merger, EVstudio continued to evolve. The firm expanded its project portfolio and geographic reach. It also invested in technology, cloud systems, and scalable operations. These improvements supported steady growth and improved project delivery.

At the same time, EVstudio navigated economic challenges. Rising interest rates between 2021 and 2023 impacted the industry. However, the firm adapted by focusing on housing and innovative delivery methods. This flexibility helped maintain stability during uncertain times.

LGA Studio: A Legacy Joins the Team

In early 2026, EVstudio acquired LGA Studio. This move added depth and history to the organization.

LGA Studios was founded in 1982 by Larry and Mary Gilland, where they build a very strong 40+ year reputation in residential design. The firm has designed thousands of homes across Colorado.

Over more than four decades, LGA expanded into remodels, community developments, and light commercial projects. Importantly, LGA developed lasting client relationships and a legacy of thoughtful design. By joining EVstudio as LGA Studio, LGA strengthened the firm’s residential expertise. It also enhanced collaboration across disciplines.

Celebrating the Present While Looking Forward

As EVstudio celebrates its 20-year anniversary, the company stands stronger than ever. The spirit week and company-wide celebration reflect a culture built on connection and shared success. Meanwhile, Dean Dalvit’s presentation reinforced the importance of learning from the past.

Today, EVstudio continues to expand across North America. The firm focuses on sustainable growth, innovation, and integrated design solutions. Looking ahead, EVstudio aims to lead in areas like modular construction, reversible design, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Ultimately, the story of EVstudio is one of resilience, adaptability, and vision. From a small startup in Evergreen to a regional leader, the firm has built a legacy worth celebrating. As the next chapter begins, one thing remains clear. The people, values, and passion behind EVstudio will continue driving its success for decades to come.
